Deanna Sue (Carroll) Whitaker, 70, of Greenfield, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born on Sept. 20, 1945, in New Castle, as the daughter of Edward P. and Maxine J. (Stephens) Carroll.
She graduated from Carthage High School in 1963. Deanna married Thomas F. Whitaker on April 19, 1969 in Mohawk.
She worked as a beautician, for 35 years, in the Greenfield area. She most recently worked for the Greenfield School Corporation for 15 years before retiring in 2010.
Deanna was a member of Carthage First Christian Church, Tri Kappa, Kiwanis Club and the Mother’s Group with the Hancock County Boys Club. She also volunteered for the Hancock Regional Hospital and Greenfield Schools.
Deanna is survived by her son, Bill E. (Ashley) Whitaker of Lockport, IL; brothers, Jim E. (Linda) Carroll of Austin, Texas and Pat Carroll of Bloomington; granddaughters, Brianna and Francesca and nieces, Janet and Christine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Maxine Carroll and husband, Tom Whitaker.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at the mortuary. Pastor Perry Meade will be officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton.
