Burley C. Coffman, 79, resided in Fortville for over 63 years, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 22, 1936, in Kenneth, Mo., as the son of Virgil and Alice (Foust) Coffman. Burley married Norma M. (Webb) on Dec. 10, 1955, in Ingalls, Ind.
He started his career at the age of 16, at Strough’s Grocery Store and later worked for Ford Motor Company for 22 years before retiring in 1997. Mr. Coffman was a member of UAW Local #1111. He loved his family, fishing, going to garage sales and loved riding his scooter.
Burley is survived by his children, Tammie (Jay) Renicker of Roanoke, Ala., Jeff (Jennifer) Coffman of Pulaksi, Tenn. and Tim (Mandy) Coffman of Decatur, Ala.; sisters, Masel (Bob) Shepherd of Fortville, Norma Jean (James) Taylor of Ark. and Auvleta (Jay) Futrell of Fla.; 12 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Alice (Foust) Coffman; wife, Norma Coffman; son, Burley Wayne Coffman; four brothers, Buddy, Thomas, A.D. and Glen and three sisters, Arlene, Vicki and Thelma.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, also at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
