FORTVILLE — The Mt. Vernon School Board approved a bid Monday from Dallman Contractors to renovate a room for special education at just less than $150,000.

The former band room at Mt. Vernon High School will be renovated to accommodate eight to 12 special education students. The renovations are needed because Greenfield-Central is pulling out of a joint services agreement, causing other local schools to house special needs students previously served in Greenfield.

Renovations will take place in the next couple of months.
