Library set to present MadCap Puppet show
GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Public Library presents MadCap Puppets, performing “Long Lost Stories,” a show for people of all ages from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Greenfield Banking Co. Community Room.
In the corner of a forbidden attic sits a long-forgotten trunk filled with magical tales lost to the world for many years. Help two young explorers as they discover the trunk and are immediately captured by its secrets inside. Register at hcplibrary.org or 462-5141, ext. 238. Free.
Center plans egg hunt with prizes for children
GREENFIELD — The public is welcome to attend the annual Easter egg hunt at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, 200 Greenmeadows Drive, at 10 a.m. March 28. Bring your camera for photos with the Easter bunny and your own basket for the eggs. This event is for children 12 and younger. Prizes will be awarded in four age groups. RSVP to 462-3311 with the number of children attending by Wednesday.
Local artist’s work will be on display at bank gallery
Beth Schwier’s artwork will be on display in Greenfield Banking Co.’s main office art gallery through the end of April.
Originally from Peru but now living in New Palestine, Schwier has studied with renowned artists such as C.W. Mundy, Diane Lyon and Laura Robb. She is a member of the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association and the Hancock County Arts Council.
She likes experimenting with abstract impressionism and loves to paint unusual subjects from everyday life that evoke nostalgia and fond memories.
The Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the main office, 1920 N. State St., is open to the public during the bank’s normal business hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
‘Charlie & the Chocolate Factory’ coming to Indy
INDIANAPOLIS — Families and children of all ages are invited as students from the Young Actors Theatre perform the classic children’s story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” in the Clowes Auditorium at the Indianapolis Public Library, 40 E. St. Clair.
Come see Charlie go up against a group of kids who have everything society has to offer and can’t get enough. It’s “Charlie” like you’ve never seen it before, including choreography involving Oompah Loompas. The performance starts at 2 p.m., but children 8 and older are invited to show up at 1 p.m. to learn how to make the candy bar wrapper headbands seen in the show.
