John Randall Day, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at his home. He was born March 26, 1939 in Indianapolis, to the late John R. and Mary Lois (Randall) Day.
John was raised in Greenfield and attended Greenfield High School. He resided in Indianapolis after his retirement from the military.
John retired from the Navy and went on to work 31 years as a federal auditor for the Department of Health and Human Services. He continued his career as an auditor for the State of Indiana prior to his retirement.
John loved flying and was a glider pilot and member of the Central Indiana Soaring Society and F&AM Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge. A lifelong Colt’s fan, John also loved Can-Am Spyder cycling in warmer weather and loved all computer technology.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Brown) Day of Indianapolis; son Gearen Day; daughters Stephanie Debbit, Rhonda Sellers, and Julie Kelley; brothers Robert (Marsha) Day, and Thomas Day; sister Rebecca Donlan; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Bertram) Day and sister Deborah Nicely.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield, IN, 46140. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
