Joy E. Wienke, 88, formerly from Greenfield, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Joy was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Claude E. and Katherine A. (Goldsmith) Shutt.
She graduated from Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana. Joy married Walter R. Weinke on Nov.3, 1979. Joy attended Indiana University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught at Lake Central High School and later worked at Cigna Insurance as an insurance underwriter. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and studying scripture. She was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (David) Heggem, Carol (Stuart) Price and Janet Ahlbin; son Bryan Shaddick; stepson Mark Wienke; stepdaughter Patricia Wienke; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ellen (David) Rust.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield, IN, 46140. Funeral Service will follow 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
