Glennetta Lee (Murphy) Turner, 72, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospice. She was born on April 29, 1942, in Hancock County, the daughter of the late Cecil and Virginia Kingery.
Glennetta was a 1960 graduate of Hancock Central High School and later Indiana Business College. She married Don Turner on July 23, 1961. She retired from Greenfield-Central Community School Corporation.
She loved working with children and volunteered many years at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hancock County as a youth advisor, and as a member of their Mothers Club. She was also a member of the Maxwell Youth Baseball league when it first began.
What she loved most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Glennetta is survived by her husband of 54 years, Don Turner of Mohawk; sons Donnie (Debbie) Turner, Darren (Michelle Gwaltney) Turner; grandchildren Donnie (Ashley) Turner, Greg (Michelle) Hodge, Kayla Turner, Dallas Turner; great-grandchildren Lincoln Hodge, Dylan Turner; former daughters-in-law Vicki Davenport, Rose Ann Turner; brother Mark (Debra) Kingery; sisters Lea Ann (Mark) Shelton, Jan (Jim) Six, and Karla (Rick) Crossley; uncle Hubert Hufferd; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother Hazel Murphy; very special aunt Phyllis Hufferd.
Visitation will be held from 2 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015, with Pastor Stephen Elmer officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Glennetta’s memory may be made to the Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation for Cancer Care or Hospice, 801 N State St., Greenfield, IN, 46140. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
