Judith “Judy” A. (Simms) Thompson, 65, of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord and her daddy Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at her residence. She was a daddy’s girl who liked to help him with his projects and I’m sure he has a project for her now. She was born on Aug. 2, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana, as the daughter of Joseph and Jean (Kurtz) Simms.
She graduated from Warren Central High School in 1967. Judy married Russell L. Thompson on Aug. 31, 1968, in Indianapolis.
She worked for Eli Lilly for 38 years before retiring in 2004. Judy was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, where she was the finance secretary. She enjoyed doing church work, reading, spending any time with her grandchildren, and being active in their activities.
Judy is survived by her husband, Russ Thompson of Greenfield; sons Brent Thompson of Greenfield, and Jason (Jennifer) Thompson of Noblesville; brother Joey Simms of Mount Vernon, Alabama; sister Janet Simms Gulden of Mount Vernon, Alabama; and grandchildren Gabriel, Taylor, Luke, Cole, Allie, and Ian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jean (Kurtz) Simms.
Memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2265 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A memorial service will take place immediately following the gathering. Reverend Janet Tierbert will be officiating.
