Donna (Garsnett) Townsend, 81, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at her residence. She was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in Greene County, Ind., as the daughter of Raymond Garsnett and Violet (Foddrill) Kennedy.Donna married Billy J. Townsend on May 29, 1953, in Powell County, KY.
She was a homemaker.
Donna is survived by her children, Opal (Buster) Hubble, Billy (Annette) Townsend, Jimmy Townsend, Brenda Townsend, Vicki (Daryl) Thomas, Bruce (Debbie) Townsend, and Kevin Townsend all of Greenfield; sister, Raetta (David) Logan of Joplin, MO; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great- grandchildren; 20 stepgrandchildren; two great- stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Garsnett and Violet (Foddrill) Kennedy; husband, Billy J. Townsend; daughter, Debi Metheny; brother, Donald Garsnett; step-brother, Don Newsome; step-sister, Phyllis Newsome; daughter-in-law, Linda; son-in-law, Jim Worley; and son-in-law, Ed Metheny.
Visitation will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015,at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, also at the mortuary. Pastor Bruce Blanton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
