Karen E. Alsip, 63, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2014, at Crown Point of Greenfield, surrounded by family. She was born March 22, 1951, in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of the late Elmer and Betty (Burton) Howard.
Karen was a 1969 graduate of Eastbrook High School, in Marion. She was formerly employed as the activities director at The American Heritage, Yorktown.
She enjoyed flowers, gardening, thrift store shopping and collecting, but most of all spending time with her family. She was a beloved mother and grandmother.
Survivors include a son, Chad (Misty) Alsip, Redkey; a daughter, Ginger (Brian) Upchurch, Greenfield; a sister, Debra Buckler, Marion; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannie Apple.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St. Upland, IN., with the Funeral Service at Noon, Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Jones-Smith Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Doug Keppel. Interment will follow at Matthews Cemetery in Matthews, Ind.
