Caroline J. Rowe, 79, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab, Greenfield. She was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Danville, Ill., to the late Rexford and Kathleen (Armstrong) Copsy. Caroline was a 1953 graduate of Covington High School and attended Purdue University at Hammond.
Caroline married Joseph H. Rowe on Feb. 14, 1953. She was a beautician and homemaker and also worked for Burns Security in Crawfordsville, Ind. Caroline was a member of the 1st Church of Christ, Covington and the V.F.W. Auxiliary, St. John, Ind. She loved to quilt, knit, read, bake and spend time with her children and grandchildren. Caroline especially enjoyed teaching them to bake.
She is survived by daughters, Paula (Joe) McCain of Greenfield, Jill (James) Bielak of Cedar Lake, Ind., Deborah Rowe (David) Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Nancy Copsy, of Mattoon, Ill.; brother, Peter (Brenda) Copsy, of Mattoon, Ill.; five grandchildren; three stepgrandsons and three great- grandchildren.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Rowe, in 2004; son, Joseph Rowe Jr.; brothers, Rex and George Copsy and sisters, Phyllis Whittington, Kathleen Masulis and Juanita Zeigler.
Visitation will be from 4- 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Cross of Grace Lutheran Church in New Palestine. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Covington, Ind.
