Bienvenido (Ben) Ong Singco M.D., 85, of Greenfield, passed away on March 8, 2014. He was born May 11, 1928, in Ginatilan, Cebu, Philippines, to Jose and Liberata Ong Singco, he was the oldest of two brothers and five sisters. They all currently reside in the Philippines. On a current family visit, he was stricken with pneumonia and was unable to recover. On March 10, 2014, an Inurnment Mass and Novena was held with many family and friends present in Ginatilan, Cebu.
Ben was educated at Manila Central University College of Medicine before he traveled to the United States for his internship and residency training at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He met Frances Cora Lee (Corky) Duran, and they were wed 50 years until her passing in 2008. He was a Family Practice Physician in Greenfield for over 30 years, and delivered many babies in the area and surrounding counties. He is a Past President of the Hancock Memorial Hospital Medical Association, and the Indiana State Medical Association awarded him for over 50 years of service.
Ben is survived by his children, Judy (Dennis) Donahue of Fort Wayne, Greg (Julie) Singco of Nashville, Ind. and Neal (Laura) Singco of Greenfield; grandchildren, Brittnee (Cody) Graman, Maura (fiancée Tyler Andrew) Singco, Tori Singco, Bennett Singco, and Jessica Singco.
A memorial visitation will be from 5- 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014, held at Park Chapel Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hancock Regional Hospital, 801 N. State St., Greenfield, IN 46140.
