David “Chip” Allen Cowgill

David "Chip" Allen Cowgill, 51, of Lapel, passed away peacefully in his home on Nov. 21, 2012, surrounded by his family following a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on Sept. 9, 1961, in Michigan City, Ind. to the late David and Joan Cowgill.

David graduated from Three Oaks High School (Three Oaks, Mich.). He was a plastics engineer and worked for IDI Composites International in Noblesville, for more than 20 years. Most recently, he worked for Mar-Bal Plastics in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. David enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.

David married Ann (Miller) on Oct. 27,1984, she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Katelyn; son, Kyle of Lapel; sisters, Deborah Cowgill of Hyannis Port, Mass., Dee (Spiro) Papaioannou of Bradenton, Fla.; brother, Dan (Becky) Cowgill of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; also a lifelong friend, Michael (Kathy) Lowry of Walkerton, Ind.

David was preceded in death by his stepfather, Homer "Red" Rabideux; and his father-in-law, Richard Miller.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 200 West 46th Street Anderson, Ind. Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Bishop Terry Frandsen officiating and presiding. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered at any branch of the Indiana Members Credit Union (c/o Katelyn Cowgill).
