James L. Roberts, 72, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on Feb. 10, 1940, in McCordsville. He was the son of Harlan Roberts and Edna (Sweezy) Roberts Sexson.
He served in the Army in 1960-1967. James married Norma I (Burch) Roberts on May 20, 1961.
James worked for Roll Coater and GE; he was also a landscaper. He was a past member of the Morristown Legion and enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing.
Surviving him are his wife, Norma I. (Burch) Roberts of Greenfield; children, Bob (Beth Holt) Roberts of Greenfield, Elaine (Gary) Carlton of Greenfield, Patricia (Richard) Boring of Eva, Ala., and Michael (Mary Smart) Roberts of McKee, Ky.; brothers, Charles Roberts of Shirley, Jack (Olive) Roberts, and David (Darlene) Roberts both of Michigan; sisters, Thelma Middleton of Angola, Helen (Wayne) Brooks, Ethel (Don) Harshman, Marsha (Paul) Scott, all of Greenfield, Linda Hornaday of Rushville, and Andy (Eddie) Macy of Fortville; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four step-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harlan Roberts and Edna Roberts Sexson; brothers, Wendal and Tommy Roberts; and sister, Beverly Swafford.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 10 a.m. also at the mortuary. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Curry’s Chapel in Greenfield. Reverend Steve Bradley will be officiating.
