Terrell Vaughn Bishop, 85, a resident of Wilkinson passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born October 13, 1926, in Young County, TX. to the late Erasmus Asberry and Nova (Ashby) Bishop.
After moving to Indiana, he attended Kennard High School. He was drafted by the U.S. Army while a senior in high school to serve in World War II. He served his country well, mainly in Europe and as a medic aboard ship.
Mr. Bishop was employed by Citizen’s Gas Company where he retired several years ago. He was an avid musician, playing both organ and guitar. He loved western swing music as well as beloved church hymns. Terrell was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield.
Survivors include his wife: Joyce Maxine (Lommott) Bishop; a sister: Verlyn (husband: Richard) Wilson of Wilkinson; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two spouses; a brother, James Bishop; a sister, Alta Widvey; brother-in-law, Phillip Widvey and a niece, Janet Bobcock.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to Noon on Friday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at Noon on Friday, May 25, 2012, with Pastor Roger Kinion officiating. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion. Private entombment will be held at Floral Park West Cemetery in Indianapolis.
