Robert Sinclair Slinkard, 79, of Fountaintown, passed away May 5, 2012 in Morristown.

Bob worked as a driver for Ford Motor Company and served in the Army. He was the former chief of the Acton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a founding member of the "Fireball Squares" square dance group and was member of the Eagles and the Capitol City Conservation Club. He was a bus driver for Triton Central and he loved the kids as much as they loved him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Vernice (Schaekel) Slinkard; children, Dennis R. (Tracy) Slinkard, Douglas (Christie) Slinkard, Dick (Mandie) Adams, Terry (Nicole) Adams, Dena (Ron) Kennedy and Ronda (Jerry) Andrews; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Natalie Rose (Travis) Slinkard; brothers, John, Chester and Charles; sister, Evelyn Rowena McIntire.

Calling will be from 3 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Hendryx Mortuary, Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
