Mary Elizabeth (Myers) Palicki, 95, of Greenfield, passed away on April 30, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Brandywine. Born on February 11, 1917, in Washington County, Salem, Ind., she was the daughter of Orland W. and Maude E. (Starr) Myers.
She graduated from Salem High School in 1936 and received a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Physical Education, and Business from Central Normal College in Danville, Indiana, in 1941. Mary married Stanley R. Palicki on June 16, 1944, at Camp Polk, Louisiana.
Mrs. Palicki was a junior and senior high school teacher for 37 years before retiring in 1980. She ended her career teaching at Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home school, Morton Memorial, in Knightstown, Ind. for 15 years from 1965-1980. She was a member of the Eastern Star in French Lick, Ind., and Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield. She was also a member of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Kennard and Wilkinson.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie I. (Calvin) Foust of Greenfield; one grandchild, Richard E. (Amanda) Foust of Greenfield; one great-granddaughter, Abagail; sister-in-law, Bonnie Myers of Mt. Summit, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Orland and Maude Myers; husband, Stanley R. Palicki; brothers, Gerald A. and Paul S. Myers; sisters, Alice M. Berry and L. Juanita Hinkle; and sister-in-law, Betty Myers.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at Trinity Park United Methodist Church in Greenfield, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. Pastor Michael Manning will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
