Mabel B. Haltom McDermott, 87, of Greenfield, passed away on April 6, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospice. Born on December 3, 1924, in Lyford, she was the daughter of Mace and Edith Mae (Tennel) Chaney.
She worked as owner/operator of the Olde National Trail Antique Shop in Dunreith for 23 years. Mrs. McDermott loved cooking and was a member of Trinity Park Church for many years.
Surviving her are her children, Alan Haltom and Bruce Haltom, both of Greenfield; sisters, Sue (Ed) Pruitt of Scottsdale, AZ, and Darla Buder of Merrilville; grandchildren, Alan (Deanna) Haltom of New Castle, Eric Shawn (Stacey) Haltom of Indianapolis, and Anthony Travis Haltom of Myrtle Beach, SC; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, John Wayne Haltom; second husband, James McDermott; and a son, John C. Haltom.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Paul Enyart will be officiating. Burial will take place at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
