Corinne (Connie) M. Smith, 91 for McCordsville, formerly of Wilkinson passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Pleasantview Lodge, in McCordsville. She was born on February 25, 1921, in Indianapolis to the late Orval and Lora (Pryor) Smith.
Connie retired from Brookside in McCordsville, but she then went to work at Wal-Mart in Greenfield and Stroughs Grocery in Fortville. She and her husband owned and operated the former Smith Grocery and Drive-In in Wilkinson for 10 years. She was a member of the Wilkinson Church of Christ, and a Foster Grandparent with the Hancock Co Head Start, and Boys and Girls Club for 12 years. In 1999 Mrs. Smith was honored as the Foster Grandparent of the year for Hancock Co.
Survivors include daughter; Benita Smith of Morristown; two sons, Joe (Karol) Smith of AZ., Chuck Smith of Franklin; two stepchildren, Mary Rose Sipf and Jean Jones of Fl.; four grandchildren, Stephanie (David) White, Nathan Talbert, Colin Smith, Cameron Smith; seven great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; sister, Jean York of McCordsville; one step daughter-in-law, Joanne Smith of Knightstown, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Orval and Lora (Pryor) Smith; husband, Avery Smith in 1964; stepson, Carson Smith; step daughter, Sarah Hornick; two sisters, Dorthea Ellis, Ruth Weckerly; brother, Frank Mann.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 2: p.m. at Condo and Son Funeral home in Wilkinson. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Friends may call from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
