Larry Eldwood Deaton, Sr., 80, of Shelbyville, formerly of Morristown and Nashville, Tenn., passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Heritage House Convalescent Center in Shelbyville. Born Jan. 16, 1932, in Whitebluff, Tenn., he was the son of Haynie and Lucille (Binkley) Deaton.

Mr. Deaton was formerly a self-employed painting contractor, owning Deaton Painting and Decorating. He retired in 1997. He was a member and business agent for the Painter's Union in Tampa, Fla. Mr. Deaton enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and doing yard work.

Survivors include his son, Larry E. (Rhonda) Deaton, Jr. of Greenfield; daughter, Christina A. "Tina" (Jeff) Stangenberg of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sister, Patsy (Howard) Davis of Donelson, Tenn; brother, Jerry (Linda) Deaton of Paducah, KY; and sister-in-law, Guyonne Deaton of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jessica, Jacqueline, Jill, (Jordan), and Joshua (Adriana); and great-grandchildren, Paige, Taylor, Xander, Alivia and Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Deaton.

Private family services will be observed.
