Kerry Lynn Woelfel, 28, died at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at St. Louis University Hospital after a brave battle with a brain tumor. She was born on July 17, 1983 in Davenport, Iowa, one of two children born to Edward W. & Cheryl E. (Shea) Woelfel.
Kerry graduated in 2002 from Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, and earned her Bachelor of Arts from Ball State University in Muncie. She was currently working as a Youth Care Specialist at the Missouri Baptist Childrens Home in Bridgeton, Mo., where she felt she was truly called by God to lovingly care and provide life skills to those in need.
Surviving are her parents, Ed & Cheryl Woelfel of Fieldon; her brother & best friend, Daniel Woelfel of Wood River; her grandmother, Peggy Shea of Jerseyville; several aunts & uncles; and many cousins as well as friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; along with an uncle. Shea.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a prayer service will be read at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m., Monday at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.
Burial will take place at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to the Missouri Baptist Childrens Home in Bridgeton, Mo.
