Charles “Charlie” Powell, 52, of Greenfield, set out for an afternoon Harley ride and ended up in Heaven on March 14, 2012. He was born on July 19, 1959.
Charlie was famous for his all-around good sense of humor. He knew the balance between being “good time Charlie” and a hard working family man. When he was not busy working at Rolls-Royce, he spent his time with a good group of friends… fishing and hunting, card parties, NASCAR races, weekend rides and bowling in a league. Charlie had an extended group of friends that were also like family. His high energy and spirit will be greatly missed.
His love and dedication was to his wife, Julie, as they recently celebrated 29 years of marriage. He had 18 years with his son, Charlie, who passed away in 2004.
He is survived by his daughter, Christy, 28; his mother, Marilyn; brother, Robert; and a sister, Debbie.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Services for Charlie will be at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Flanner and Buchanan-Community Life Center at Washington Park East, 10612 E. Washington St. with Burial in Washington Park East Cemetery. Bikers welcome.
