Joyce Kay O’Neal, age 80, a resident of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Golden Living Center Brandywine, Greenfield. She was born on Oct. 9, 1931, in Eden, to the late Mearl and Ruthe (Kessler) O’Neal.
Joyce was a graduate of Eden High School. She served 41 years as a civilian employee of the Finance School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, earning numerous meritorious service awards. She was appointed as an honorary Sgt. Major of the Finance School. She was an avid sports fan and followed the Pacers and the Fever for many years.
She is survived by her brothers, Mike (Lyn) O’Neal of Greenfield, S. Thomas (Suzanne) O’Neal of Anderson; niece, Nadena Pardue; nephews, Timothy O’Neal, Stephen O’Neal, Rick O’Neal, David O’Neal, Joseph O’Neal, Gary O’Neal, Todd O’Neal, and Brad O’Neal.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Eden United Methodist Church, Greenfield. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
