Alice M. Davis, age 90, of Carthage, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born on Aug. 18, 1921, in Johnson County, Ind., the daughter of Charles and Emma Mae (Mason) Pettit.

She helped farm with her husband for many years. A homemaker, she was a member of the Carthage Fireman’s Auxiliary, a member of the Union Chapel Church in St. Paul and also attended Fletcher Methodist Church in Carthage. She loved reading, cross stitching, crocheting, dancing, sewing and was a wonderful cook.

She is survived by six children, Darrel D. (Anne) Davis of Ruskin, Fla., Alvin H. Davis of New Castle, Martha A. West of Greenfield, Carl M. (Phyllis) Davis of Greenfield, Kay (Dahl) Petry of Arlington, Ind., Ruth (Jerry) May of Arlington, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A Davis; two grandchildren, Larry A. Davis, Stephen M. Petry; and two brothers, Harry Pettit, and Richard Mason.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at the funeral home, with Reverends Roger Campbell and David Bonne officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
