Robert D. Seely, age 83, a lifelong resident of Hancock Co., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at his home. He was born on Dec. 3, 1927, to the late Tarly and Carl Seely.
Robert married Bertha M. (Whisler) Seely on July 3, 1948. He retired from Navistar in Indianapolis after 31 years of service and was an avid farmer for years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his two daughters, Vicki Reeves of Greenfield, JoAnn (John) Holt of Greenfield; son, Robert W. Seely of Greenfield; sisters, Phyllis Robbins of Franklin, Ind., Carolyn Yeager of New Palestine, Sue Leedy of Ashland, Ohio; brother, Leon Seely of New Castle; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha in 2008; daughter, Barbara; son-in-law, Ronnie Patton; sister, Doris Vest; and grandson, Jesse Reeves.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mc Cray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
