Helen Barbara Erhardt, age 84, of New Palestine, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at her residence. Born on Nov. 18, 1926 in Westland, Ind., she was the daughter of Romie and Ethel (Lucas) Moss.
Barbara graduated from Morristown High School in 1944, attended Jordan Music College and received a certificate in food management from Holiday Inn University. She taught piano while her children were young and later entered the workforce in various management positions. She was passionate about cooking, which was enjoyed by her entire family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and traveling and was an avid IU fan. Barbara and her husband, Daniel "Duke" Erhardt, lived in Madison, Ind. for over 25 years and enjoyed the company of many friends.
Survivors include her children, Vicki Meiser (Joe) Darnell, Kristi Meiser (Larry) Jonas, Greg (Terri) Meiser, Marc (Jackie) Meiser, Patti Meiser (Rob) Keaton, Terri Meiser (Kevin) Willard, Sherri Meiser (Jim) Tucker; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; parents; brothers, Arthur Moss, Ronnie Moss; sisters, Thelma Moss, Evelyn Zilligen; and two grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North Street in Morristown. Graveside services will follow at Asbury Cemetery.
