Travis Lee Whitaker, age 21, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in Indianapolis. Born on May 22, 1990, in Greenfield, he was the son of Dale Travis Whitaker and Vicki Lynn Sell.
Travis graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 2008 and worked at Wal-mart in Greenfield. Travis was a member of the Greenfield Marching Band/Cougar Pride, the Greenfield Jazz Band, and the Greenfield-Central Indoor Percussion Group. He loved playing the bass guitar and was a horn sergeant and member of the Band Leadership Team.
Surviving him are his mother, Vicki Lynn Sell of Indianapolis; father, Dale Travis (Anna) Whitaker of Greenfield; son, Kayden Andis of Greenfield; sister, Tara Shayne Whitaker of Greenfield; brothers, Charley Whitaker and Mark Fitzpatrick, Jr. of Greenfield; grandmother, Patsy (O’Shields) Smith of Greenfield; aunt, Janice Sell of Greenfield; and uncles, Tony (Heather) Sell of Greenfield and Russell Sell of Lubbock, Texas.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Kenneth Norman Sell and Charles J. Whitaker.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Philadelphia Cemetery.
