Roger L. Hale, age 72, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1939, in Clinton, Wis., a son of the late Dale and Clara (Hendrickson) Hale.
He served with the U.S. Army Reserves and was a 1963 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. He retired from farming in 2002 and had also worked as a Real Estate Agent for Caldwell Banker/Century 21, Wilson & Associates in Greenfield. He was a past president of Indiana Pork Producers and had also taught at Michigan State University. He was a past president of the Indiana State Fair where he served on the Board of Directors from 2007-2010. He was a member of the Walnut Ridge Friends Church in Carthage.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Rhodes) Hale of Greenfield, whom he married on June 26, 1977; daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Van Hoy of Knightstown; son, Brad (Anita) Hale of Greenfield; granddaughter, Clara Hale; brother, Don (Kay) Hale of Beloit, Wis.; two sisters, Lois Krehoff of Beloit, Wis., and Sue Hale of Janesville, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Julie Strom; and brother, Alvin Hale.
Friends may call from 3 p.m until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at the funeral home, with Pastors Bruce Banister and Paul Enyart officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hancock Regional Hospice or Walnut Ridge Friends Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
