Harry B. Philpott, age 71, of Fortville, died on Sept. 29, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on April 1, 1940, in New Bern, N.C., he was the son of Royal M. and Madrey (Bunting) Philpott.
Harry graduated from Madison High School in Anderson and earned a certificate from Line Type School in English, Ind. He married Vikkie Longest on Feb. 10, 1962, and worked for the Indianapolis Star for 35 years before retiring in 2001. Mr. Philpott was a member of Communication Workers of America and loved to golf.
Surviving him are his wife, Vikkie Philpott; children, Kirk Philpott, and Sherry Harting of Fortville, and Terri Marie Terrell of Okla.; sister, Emily Philpott; two grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
There will be no services. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary, Fortville.
