Olimpia A. Martin, 84, died at 6:20 am Monday, June 13, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Greenfield, Ind. She was born in McAllen, Texas to the late Tomas and Sara (Rodriquez) Garcia and lived most of her life in Indiana.
She married Joel J. Martin Jr. on March 13, 1952. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2002.
She was a homemaker and member of St Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion, AmVets Auxiliary, CPC Sympathy Club and the Moose. Dancing and cooking were special enjoyments of hers.
Olimpia was truly the matriarch of her family. Caring for her family and tending to their needs was her highest concern.
Survivors include her children, Sandra (Jeff) Landry, Groves, Texas, Noel J. (Linda) Martin, Swayzee, Ind., Linda (Ralph) Marcuccilli, Jefferston, Va. Gloria E. (Scott) Millspaugh, Sweetser, Ind., Lisa M. Ailes, Greenfield, Ind.; Siblings, Maria Garcia Rodriquez , McAllen, Texas, Juan Garcia, McAllen, Texas, Lupe Garcia Villarreal , Victoria, Texas, Tomas Garcia Mc Allen, Texas, Jose (Maria) Garcia, Pharr, Texas, Elva Garcia Manchaca Mc Allen, Texas; 14 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by, Husband; 2 children and; Siblings, Jose Francisco Alaniz, Arturo Alaniz, Roque Garcia.
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, June 16, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Road, Marion with Rev. Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Ind.
Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m.
