Sara Catherine Wilson, age 93 of Athens, died early Tuesday morning, June 7, 2011 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains, Ohio. She was a former resident of Indianapolis, Ind.; Strongsville, Ohio; and Gwinn, Mich. Born Nov. 6, 1917 in Ebensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna Maley Swinter.

A graduate of Baldwin Wallace College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, she was employed as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years with the Veterans Administration hospital system. She worked as a nurse and patient educator at Fairview Hospital in Fairview Park and with Hospice Care in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She and her late husband operated vacation cottages, named Queen Cottage in Gwinn, Mich.

She was a member of Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church in Mt. Comfort, Ind. She enjoyed keeping herself busy with fishing, knitting, sewing and crafts.

Sara is survived by a daughter & son in law, Linda & Stephen Lukasik of Athens; a son & daughter in law, David & Christine Wilson of Greenfield, Ind.; three grandsons- Eric (Rachel) Swift of Benbrooke, Texas, Michael (Jackie) Wilson and James (Kelly) Wilson both of Indianapolis, Ind.; and four great grandchildren- Christina Swift, Nolan, Ashlyn & Blake Wilson.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Clair Wilson in 1991; two sisters- Louise Eilers and Virginia Schoneker; three brothers- Bernard, Barney and Bruce Swinter.

A private memorial service was held June 8, 2011 in Athens, Ohio. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interred in New Washington, Pa.
