Sonnie Garrell Claffey, 73 of Bloomington, Ind., died May 31, 2011. Sonnie was born March 14, 1938 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Sonnie married Claudia Haines on July 19, 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963, serving in Korea during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his return from military service he worked as a truck driver for J.R. Haines, Inc. He went on to become the owner and operator of Sonnie’s Appliances in the Bloomington area for over 20 years. He was also a school bus driver for the Monroe County Community School Corporation for many years. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
Survivors include children: Scott Claffey (Jackie), Kristi Williamson (Mark) and John Claffey (Jean); sister Marilyn Langham (Harold); Claudia Haines and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred A. and Gladys P. Claffey.
Services will be held at Erlewein Funeral Home in Fortville, Ind., with visitation from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd, 2011. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 4th.
