Clara Marie (Dishman) Corkins, age 103, passed away peacefully on her birthday, Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Regency Place in Greenfield. Born on May 21, 1908 in Hancock County, she was the daughter of Joseph Edgar and Josephine (Chapman) Roland.
Clara worked for Goodman’s Department Store, which later became P.N. Hirsch, for over 30 years, before retiring. Clara loved watching IU basketball and the Indiana Pacers. She also loved spending time with her family.
Surviving her are her children, Bonnie Hill of Greenfield, Patricia (Floyd) Adkins of Greenfield, and William (Julie) Dishman of Greenfield; 15 grandchildren, Pam Isom, Roger Dishman, Jay Dishman, Randy Dishman, Danny Dishman, Jama Spicer, Tim Johnson, Robert Hill, Janii Dearmendi, Alan Dishman, Cindy Roberts, Martin Dishman, Michael Adkins, Mark Adkins, and Brian Adkins; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Josephine Roland; husbands, Charles Albert Dishman, and Samuel Blaine Corkins; son, Robert E.Dishman; daughter, Virginia L. Johnson; sons-in-law, Robert W. Hill, and George A. Johnson; brothers, Lawrence, Russel, Roy, Ralph, Paul, and Joseph Roland; and sisters, Emma Ashby, Orpha Grose, Iva Williams, and Gladys Councillor.
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Reverend Michael Manning will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
