Freddie “Fred” Dean Charlton, 73, of Fortville, died Wednesday May 18, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 18, 1937 in Acosta, Pa. to the late Samuel and Vergie (Dove) Charlton.
He was an Army veteran and a member of the Fortville American Legion Post 391.
Fred is survived by his wife, Margaret (Feuston) Charlton, whom he married on April 26, 1959; sons: Tony (Debbie) Charlton of Fortville; Kevin Charlton of Ingalls; and Gregory (Janet) Charlton of Petersburg, Ind.; daughter, Lori (Michael) O’Daniel of McKinney, TX; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Jason Ray Charlton of Holidaysburg, Pa.; sister, Dorothy Corden of Friedens, Pa.; sisters-in-laws; Betty Charlton of Friedens, Pa. and Vernetta Charlton of Greensburg, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Dean Charlton; and brothers, Vincent, Franklin and Samuel Charlton.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville, where graveside military rites will be conducted.
