Charles E. Masters, age 70, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on Dec.3, 1940, in Gainesville, Ga., he was the son of D.B. and Irene (Franklin) Masters. He married Louann (Parker) Masters on Nov. 8, 1961.
Charles worked for and was co-owner of Anderson Speedway for 18 years and was the owner of Old Yard Recycling in Greenfield for many years. He was a member of Highest Praise Church and Vintage Chevy Club of America. He loved fishing, Nascar, and being with family.
Surviving Charles are his wife, Louann of Greenfield; mother, Irene of Liberty, S. C.; son, Chad (Kittie) Masters of Wilkinson; daughter, Chastity (Adrian) Mardis of Greenfield; siblings, Bill (Gloria) Masters, Donna (Melvin) Crawford, Joan Turner all of So. C.; and grandchildren, Taylor Mardis, Andy Mardis, Chase Masters, and Cadence Masters.
Preceding him in death were his father, D.B.; and brother, Danny Masters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. A celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Highest Praise Church in Greenfield. Pastor Ira Scott will be officiating.
