Evelyn C. Wilson, 91, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 4, 1919 in Hancock County to the late Virgil A. and Mary Elsie (Reynolds) Gilson. Evelyn married John H. Wilson, June 22, 1952.
Evelyn graduated from Maxwell High School, Ball State University and completed graduate work at Indiana University. She taught school for 41 years, 7 years at Maxwell and 34 years for Indianapolis Public Schools. She was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church, past president of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Lee Blazer Studio Club. She also, was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Retired Teachers Association, the Historical Society, the Mental Health Association, and the Happy Seniors Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1993; brother, Lorenze R. Gilson and sister, Barbara S. Gilson.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Greenfield Christian Church with Rev. Callie Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until the time of service at the church.
