Mildred L. Rush, age 92, of New Palestine, passed away on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Community Hospital East. She was born on Aug. 23, 1918, in New Palestine. She was the daughter of Raymond and Nancy Leoma (Snider) Brune.
Mildred graduated from Fortville High School in 1936 and married Emerson Owen Rush on Sep. 21, 1941, in New Palestine. She worked for General Motors in assembly for ten years and also worked as a homemaker. She had also previously worked at Ayr-way as the manager of womens, sportswear, and lingerie departments. Mrs. Rush was a member of Amity United Methodist Church and a former member of Jim Dandy Home Economics Club. She loved to sew, being with her family, and working out in the yard with her flowers.
She is survived by her children, Karen Sue (Terry L.) Bennett of New Palestine, Judy Ann (Dan) Moore of Martinsville, and Marcia Lee (Andrew) Wheeler of Westfield; grandchildren, Amber (Russ) Van Til, Ryan (Beth) Wheeler, and Joshua Bennett; great-grandchildren, Micah Wheeler, Preston Van Til, Tessa Wheeler, and Hudson Van Til; and a foster sister, Lois Steele of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Lowell F. Brune; and a granddaughter, Natalie Ann Wheeler.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the mortuary. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery. Pastor Larry Bush will be officiating.
