Ivan D. Brooks, age 85, of Greenfield, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, in Greenfield. Born on May 3, 1925, in Mohawk, he was the son of Clarence and Mahala (DeShong) Brooks.

Ivan graduated from Maxwell High School in 1943 and married Marjorie McKeeman on Aug. 22, 1948, in Mohawk. He worked for Chevrolet Truck and Bus in Indianapolis for 42 years until retiring in 1985. Mr. Brooks was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church and the UAW. He served as a Quarter Master 2nd Class aboard the USS Wilkes Barre in the United States Navy during WWII. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team, the outdoors, animals, bowling, softball, and growing flowers.

Surviving him are his wife, Marjorie (McKeeman) Brooks; son, Kenny Brooks; daughters, Marsha (Jack) Brown and Melia (Mike) Sears; brother, Ralph Brooks, all of Greenfield; grandchildren, Holly Brooks Smith, Ryan (Kinsey) Collins, Cara Collins, and Josiah (Lyndee) Sears; and step-grandchildren, Shantelle (Andy) Ebbert and Alisha (Giuseppe) Cavaletto.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Lester, Richard, Robert, Mary, Roscoe, and Dave Brooks.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, at the mortuary. Reverend David Woods will be officiating. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with full military rites.
