Marvin L. Shelton, 65, a lifelong resident of the New Salem area passed away at 6:26 PM Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Rush Memorial Hospital. Marvin was born Feb. 21, 1945, in Rushville, Ind. to the late Floyd and Mildred (Davis) Shelton. Marvin married Deloris Phillips on Jan. 21, 1966, and she survives.
Marvin graduated from the New Salem High School in the Class of 1963. He was a member of the Indiana Snowmobile Association and president of the Hancock County Snowmobile Association. He managed the Greenfield Orscheln Store for seven years before moving to the Shelbyville store as manager the last five months.
In addition to his wife Deloris of New Salem, he is survived by two daughters, Becky (Jeremy) Reynolds of Fountain City, Ind. and Kim Manlief of Waveland, Ind.; four grandchidren, Nate & Alex Reynolds and Logan and Nolan Manlief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob.
Friends are welcome to call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan.15, 2011, at the mortuary, with Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Rush County.
