Alice Patricia Burk, 92 years old of West Lafayette, passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, in Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. She was born May 27, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Charles Edward and Gertrude H. (Copper) Colson.
Alice graduated from Fortville High School. On Dec. 23, 1939, she married George F. Burk in Noblesville, Ind., and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1997. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Fortville Christian Church where she served in the choir for a number of years. Alice enjoyed cooking, crocheting, crosswords, and spending time with her family.
Surviving is a son, John Stephen Burk of Clark, N.J.; a son-in-law, John A. Stevens of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Tim Stevens (Shirley) and Sharon Burk; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jacob Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgianna "Ann" Stevens; a daughter-in-law, Kristi Mott Burk; four brothers; and three sisters.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2010, at the Fortville Christian Church in Fortville. Services will be at 11 a.m., with Jonathan Manship officiating. Interment will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
