Country rock band coming to HCPL

GREENFIELD – Catch a special unplugged performance by hillbilly country-rock band Union Suit Rally at an upcoming free concert.

The event for all ages is at 6:30 p.m. May 23 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. With instruments like guitars, banjos and mandolins, the group creates a fusion capturing the essence of the Midwest, according to the HCPL. Indy 500 event coming to Riley home

GREENFIELD – Learn about history and the Indy 500 in an event coming up Saturday at the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home.

Carl Fisher and Riley and their ties to the big race will be the focus of an event from noon to 2 p.m. May 11. There will be potato car races, a video about Riley and Fisher and snacks. Shirley Strawberry Festival May 18

SHIRLEY – The Shirley Strawberry Festival is coming up May 18.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jane Ross Reeves Octagon House, 400 S. Railroad St., Shirley and will feature strawberries, vendors and entertainment.

Knightstown car show May 18

KNIGHTSTOWN – The Hickory Classic Car Show is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18.

The event, hosted by Justin’s Helping Hands, will be at the Hoosier Gym, 355 N. Washington St., Knightstown. It’s free to spectators and $15 to register a car. On-site tours of the Hoosier Gym are available, and there will also be food, a DJ, door prizes, vendor booths and more.

Photography exhibit coming to gallery

GREENFIELD — “Photography From You” is featured at the Twenty North Gallery this month, with a reception from 6:30-8:30 p.m. this Friday.

Cash awards will be given to winners of the photography contest exhibit, and photos will be on display throughout the month.

An artists reception is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 10. The gallery is located at 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For more, visit hancockcountyarts.org.
