Bernice (Penix) Henzie, 75, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, at Morristown Manor. She was born on March 30, 1941, in Harlan County, Ky., as the daughter of David E. and Anna Mae (Frost) Penix.

She graduated from Evarts High School in Evarts, Ky., in 1958, and was a graduate of the Porter Business College of Indianapolis. She was married to Frank W. Henzie for over 48 years.

She worked in quality control in the print shop for AT&T at the Franklin Rd. Facility in Indianapolis for 25 years before retiring in 1995. Mrs. Henzie was a member of the Pioneers of America, Eastern Star #216 in New Palestine, the Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Indianapolis and the Red Hat Society of Greenfield.

She is survived by a son, Rick (Tracey) Henzie of Seymour, Ind.; brother, Ovie V. Penix of Evarts, Ky.; sister, Rama L. Wysong of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frank W. Henzie of Greenfield.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Pastor Steve Mojonnier will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St, #100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
