Free summer fun includes summerfest, Red Hat Society, canal light show

Celebrate summer in Carthage at festival

CARTHAGE — Music, food and more than 35 arts and crafts vendors will line Mill St. Saturday as part of Summerfest, hosted by the Blue River Community Harvest Food Pantry.

Included in the festivities are a covered bridge bike tour at 8 a.m. and a 5K Run/Walk/Bike at 8:10 a.m. Summerfest is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds raised by the event will benefit the food pantry. Donations of non-perishable food items and money also are welcome.

Go on a Poke-Safari at Sugar Creek Branch

NEW PALESTINE — All ages are welcome to join in on a Pokemon GO Safari from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Sugar Creek Branch Library, 5087 W. US 52.

Catch ‘em all, restock on Pokeballs at the Pokestop post office next door and do battle in the Gym at the library.

GREENFIELD — Women age 50 and older are invited to be a part of the Red Hat Society, an organization whose mission includes, fun, friendship, freedom, fulfillment and fitness.

Light Show on display at the Canal in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — IN Light IN will present a light show along the Canal, 801 W. Washington St. from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

The show celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Central Indiana Community Foundation.
